Hi! I'm Beth.

I aim to create connections and make tough topics accessible through my humorous stories.

As well as being a children's book author, my writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail. I also write blog posts for SELspace.ca.

I have my Master’s in biology and love weaving nature and science themes into my projects, too.

When not writing, I can be spotted walking my dog, in a down dog or spending time outside with my family in Ottawa, Ontario.

Fun Facts About Me

  1. I love water: paddling on it, diving into it and drinking it. But I don’t like being splashed.

  2. I like exercising but not being out of breath.

  3. 100% morning owl, 0% night hawk.

  4. If I went back to school I'd study neuroscience.

  5. Everyone in my family plays hockey except me. Our dog is even named Gretzky.

  6. I’m a dog person but have always had slightly neglected cat, too.

  7. I don’t enjoy cooking but spend a lot of time in the kitchen because I like eating good food. I also really like potato chips.

  8. Rain or shine, you’ll find me outside.

  9. I’ve swam with beluga whales (okay, they were really far away), whale sharks (touched one’s back!), sea lions (they nibbled my life jacket) and dolphins (there were so many, I was scared!), all in the wild.

  10. I’ve been tandem skydiving. I couldn’t have thrown myself from an airplane by myself.
